Week 29: Chinese Plum Sauce

Recipe from How to be a Domestic Goddess.

Once again I have underestimated how much food the recipe actually calls for and how small my pans are in comparison to what’s needed.

I had to split the ingredients for this plum sauce in half so I could cook in two pans. Aside from all the chopping of all the plums (so many plums) and apples, and the splitting of every ingredient into two, this was a pretty simple sauce to make. It does use a lot of vinegar, the smell of which did linger in the flat for a few days after, but I’d say this is worth it for the taste of the sweet, sweet sauce.

I mainly ate this as an accompaniment to cheeses around Christmas time, and was able to give a number of jars away as Christmas gifts to my family and friends.

I learned during this process that I actually like plums. Didn’t know that before. New Years Resolution for 2023… more plums.
