Recipe from How to Eat.
They say you are what you eat, so it makes sense we finally get to the tarts.
The Jam Tarts from this book come from the section about cooking with children. I don’t have any myself but one of my friendship groups has over the last year had four new additions so I don’t think it’s too far off that some baby sitting cooking will be occurring.
I had to purchase a new tart tin for this and the lovely ladies at the tart tin shop gave me some solid advice, namely to not overfill the pastry with jam as it expands whilst cooking. Well there was not a chance of that with the amount mentioned in the book. This, being for children, makes 24 tiny tarts, or 12 standard. I made the twelve but had enough filling for seven. I mixed together the same amount of syrupy jam and filled each tart, not to the top as I am very wise and listen to warnings.
Well 12 tarts lasted this fully grown male one day before they were all consumed so I’d call that a success… maybe I’d eat less if I were in fact sharing these with children, but given how tasty they were, I’m in no rush to do that just yet.
